Minster Inn Chess Club is no more........ well almost.

It's official.

The Minster Inn Chess Club of York has moved premises and has renamed the club "Eagle and Child Chess Club".

The players said goodbye to The Minster Inn with a games night (see photos) and now they can boast to have (arguably?) the best views from any chess room in the world. (See Photos)

One player is currently still flying The Minster Inn flag very high, though.

At the British Chess Championships being held in Bournemouth IM Richard Palliser is officially representing The Minster Inn and he has had an excellent start to the tournament beating 1 GM, drawing with 2 others and tonight he remains unbeaten on 5/7.

For full contact details of the "Eagle and Child Chess Club" visit the website's "Clubs" section and for those who are unsure of the location of the pub / bistro / live music venue :

Thanks to Steve Whitehead for the photos and info update and I'm sure everyone from the York & District Chess Association wishes the new club all the best in their new premises.
